The short version
Room type names differ by retreat, but they're built from a small set of concepts. Here's what each one means, so you know what you're picking before you book.
The room type glossary
Private: Just you, in your own room.
Split Double: Two guests sharing a room with two separate beds.
Shared Double: Two guests sharing a room with one bed.
Triple: Three guests sharing a room.
Quad: Four guests sharing a room.
Dorm: A bunk-style room with multiple guests, usually the most budget-friendly option on the trip that offers it.
Group Room: On El Salvador only, a room shared by three or four guests who must all book together as a group. It isn't for solo travelers or pairs who don't already have the rest of their group booked.
Solo travelers and shared rooms
If you book a shared room type without a roommate, we match you with a guest of the same gender, and by age and vibe where we can. This applies to Split Doubles, Shared Doubles, Triples, and Quads alike, so booking a shared room solo doesn't mean waiting to see who else signs up.
Booking with your own group
Split Doubles, Triples, Quads, and Group Rooms all work well if you're travelling with friends and want to book together. The Group Room concept goes a step further: everyone in that room has to commit at the same time, since the price and the room only make sense as a set.
Tier names differ by trip
Each retreat uses its own tier names built from these concepts, and not every retreat offers every type. Some tiers sell out while the retreat itself is still open to book. Your retreat page always shows the current tier names and which ones are sold out: https://www.getsaltyretreats.com/retreats.
